Headteacher’s Welcome

A welcome message from our headteacher.

I am very proud to welcome you to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Blaydon, a Partnership School of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust.

St Joseph’s has been educating children from its community since 1871 and serves the parishes of St. Anne’s Winlaton and St Joseph’s Blaydon which is a vibrant, evangelising community. We have a reputation as a safe and happy Catholic school which provides high quality education. Today, we are proud to maintain this reputation, catering for our wonderful, diverse community of children and families. Although we are a Catholic school, we welcome applications from those of other faiths, or no faith, who share our ethos and values.

St Joseph’s has a strong Christian ethos which pervades our school, binding people together and encouraging everyone to give their best within an ordered and disciplined atmosphere. Our aim is to provide a community that is characterised by joy and purposeful learning.

The Governors are aspirational for the school and together we want the very best in Catholic education for our pupils.  In addition to very high standards, we have an excellent reputation for extra-curricular activities, including a range of clubs and trips.

We have a very dedicated and hard-working staff who fully embrace the aims of the school with our Catholic ethos permeating at the centre of all activity. We always encourage our children to be the best they can be, whatever their ability, and we expect the highest standards in all aspects of school life. This expectation is supported by a very active and effective home-school partnership. People routinely comment on the friendly atmosphere that exists in the school but they also notice that it has a great sense of purpose.

Please feel free to contact the school if you wish to make a visit and experience the school first hand for yourself. If you would be interested in a visit to our school I would be honoured to show you around school personally.
